Knowledge Organisers
Every year group in the school have created knowledge organisers for the subjects: Science, History, Geography, PSHE, RE and French. These will be displayed on working walls as well as being laminated for frequent use in lessons.
Knowledge Organisers have been proven to offer a range of benefits including:
- Regular retrieval practice is important, because active retrieval aids later retention (Roediger et al., 2011).
- helps children to transfer chunks of knowledge from their short-term memory to long-term memory.
- Foster independent learning in the class and for home learning.
- An assessment tool to identify gaps in knowledge throughout the topic.
- Children who are absent can catch up on any missed learning.
