The Little Lodge
The Little Lodge Project
A place where parents and carers, along with the future children of Hillyfield can join to learn skills, share knowledge and support one and other with the importance and value of early communication being paramount to children’s attainment and success at school and throughout life, as language is the vehicle for learning. The Little Lodge provides an irresistible learning space for families with children from the ages of 0 to 3 years to come together. It provides a variety of high quality learning sessions, with an umbrella approach to promoting and raising awareness of communication and language within the vital Early Years of Childhood.
Sessions are free to attend and run for one hour each week, currently at the Hill Site, with families signing up to a five week block of sessions at a time. Sessions are fun and parent led, where children are able to explore and play within The Little Lodge. Information is be shared and displayed on key milestones for children’s communication. Clear next steps and ways to promote each stage of language is displayed to provide parents with a learning hub of information relevant and personal to their child. At the end of each session we finish with an important group circle time of singing songs that greatly support language and communication for young children. Resources are sent home at the end of the session to help families to continue the learning at home with simple and effective ideas.
With the large success of our taster sessions during the Summer Term last year; The Little Lodge will be reopening very soon at the Hill, more information to follow regarding how to apply for a place. Our next step is to create the same provision at the Park Site before the end of this academic year.
